 | Black, stiletto ankle boots. Most of the High Street shoe shops have been caught on the hop by the return of sexy, spike-heeled shoes. Shelves are still bulging with block heel monstrosities and platform trainers. Thankfully, Office have brought out a covetable black ankle boot with stiletto heel and side zip for a reasonable £55.00. |
 | Bargain Hunters London. Cash conscious Londoners shouldn't be without this paperback by Andrew Kershman (Metro publication 1996 £5.99). |
 | The Photography Book. Phaidon 1997, £25. An A to Z guide of the world's greatest photographers, each represented by a full-page picture and a mini biography.  | A Velvet Shirt. Velvet seems to be the fabric of the season and velvet shirts are on sale virtually everywhere. Budget versions can be spruced up very effectively by replacing plastic buttons with black velvet ones. But beware, cheap velvet and velour often looks just that. Pick of the High Street (and not at all cheap looking) are the velvet shirts from Laura Ashley for £55. They come in various colours but the deep, deep aubergine purple is absolutely gorgeous.
