Deep Impact

This is about a comet that is discovered by a group of young astronomers in Richmond, Virginia. They take a photograph of it and send it away. This is when it is confirmed as a comet. Unfortunately on the way to informing the government, the Astronomer is killed in an automobile accident.

The excitement of the film starts one year later when one of the President's aids resigns from his post. The news media get hold of this resignation and sends a young hopeful reporter to investigate (Jenny Learner). She starts asking too many awkward questions and on her way back to the office, she is stopped by the FBI. They take her to a secret destination and inform her she will be at the press conference being held in 24 hours time.

Jenny turns up at the press conference and this is when the world finds out about the comet threatening the planet and what the president plans to do about it.

Most of the film concentrates on the television news about how the Astronauts are doing in their mission and who gets into the special tunnels that have been built and who will not be so lucky. This is when the film gets emotional and in some places just a little predictable.

We give it a tearful 7/10
