To avoid this follow these rules and...

- Discipline yourself to go to bed and get up at regular times.
- Do not snooze during the day - big mistake.
- Have a warm bath or shower before bed. Be careful - if the water is too hot you will feel even more awake.
- Do not go to bed if you don't feel sleepy.
- Do not do any vigorous exercise immediately before going to bed.
- Ideally try not to eat heavy meals less than four hours before you go to bed.
- Limit your intake of coffee and alcohol which are stimulants.
- Always sleep on a firm but comfortable mattress.
- Make sure your room is well ventilated and a comfortable temperature - many experts suggest about 15 Celsius, 60 Fahrenheit.
- Often a change of environment helps - so try changing rooms.
