Film review by Juleigh Martin and Loz

Don't Go Breaking My Heart

Starring
Anthony Edwards
Jenny Seagrove
Charles Dance
Linford Christie

Well what can I say? Strange though this movie is, it makes a refreshing change to walk into an auditorium and see a film based and shot in England. Tony (Anthony Edwards AKA Dr. Greene of ER fame) is testing is theory of sports psychology on none other than Linford Christie who makes a cameo appearance as himself. Unfortunately Tony's theory is not working for Linford and Linford fires him as his coach. Now Tony is worried about his visa and desperate to find work.

Meanwhile Suzanne, who has recently lost her husband, is off to work. She works in a lawyer's office and is cleaning and talking to his plants in the foyer when she says hi to Tony who is waiting to see the lawyer. Later that afternoon Suzanne makes an appointment to see her dentist (Charles Dance). This is an unusual dentist as he hypnotises his patients when carrying out any work on them. This is where the fun begins or at least the story.

Whilst in the dentist's chair Charles Dance asks Suzanne if she will accompany him to the "Beach Boys" concert. Rashly, she accepts and so begins a major subplot of the movie.

Meanwhile Tony makes friends with Suzanne's son Ben. In Tony, Ben finds someone who believes in him - as he has gone from the best athlete in the school to laughing stock. Has Tony found the person his sports psychology works on? Well he has his chance to find out - but will it all go according to plan?

This is a film of espionage and counter espionage with plenty of revenge thrown in.

All, of course, ends well and this is a film well worth taking a look at.

We give it 7/10
