I am not quite sure what the Millennium thing is supposed to do...
Do you ever meet up?
Is it a social group as well?
How did you get together in the first place?
Sorry for all the questions
Christopher Michael Lucas
Q. What else do you do...?
I am a freelance journalist and multimedia consultant by profession,
Q. I am not quite sure what the millennium thing is supposed to do...
Neither are we :-)
Q. do you ever meet up..?
Yes, some of us meet more frequently than others. Mike Jones our technical editor lives just up the road. However we have contributors as far away as Japan!
Q. is it a social group as well..?
Er, sort of...
Q. how did you get together in the first place..?
I write for a number of publications. Disillusioned with the editorial style
of some of the people I write for, I decided to set up my own EZine
Mike & I assembled a group of like-minded friends and colleagues, and put the first edition of The New Millennium on CD ROM - June 1995 Hoping to hit a much bigger audience we decided to set up a web site. We now get over 150,000 hits a month, from readers all over the planet.
The Zine is funded by Garf Technology - Southampton based multimedia business. Other publications on our site include DentalNet - a site funded by Wessex Dental Deanery, for Dental professionals in the South of England. It is envisaged that we will run a number of expert sites over the next few years.

I'm very worried about the impact the new millennium on society, especially young people. Is it true that they are planning to buy loads and loads of guns and go around shooting old people? To date nobody has thought fit to discuss these topics out in the open. Time is running out, the millennium approaches!
Thanks for your EMail. Having discussed your letter with key members of the team, I must confess to having not the faintest idea what you mean. We have not heard of any mass extermination plans, and certainly in the UK, getting hold of firearms will be even more difficult following new, tighter gun laws.
A number of our writers are over fifty, and even though they can be a bit irritating sometimes, we have no plans to shoot any of them.
EditorI think our pages compliment each other well-- I only hope that some day mine can aspire to the polish and appeal of yours. I will add a link as soon as I have a few moments to work on page. (I'm brand new to HTML and even simple things take me a while.)
Cordially, VirginianAnd we've just linked to you too! Look: http://www.win.bright.net/~pwimsey/index.htm (link no longer valid) And a very interesting site it is too!
EditorYou do realize that Good times was a prank, right?, no virus can spread simply by reading an email message, the only way a virus can affect a system is by opening or running a downloaded file. And it is not possible for a virus to physically damage a computers processor or hard drive. If you understand differently, and have info to back it up, please let me know, I am a network engineer for MCI and am curious what you think.
Steve AndersonAgree with all you say Steve, only we actually said Good Times was a hoax in the article. We even quoted the spoof EMails we received on the subject, and gave a URL for a site which explains the hoax greater detail.
EditorI just wanted to drop you a note saying how much I enjoyed your magazine. I'm doing a report on viruses for one of my classes at college, and Infoseek brought up your magazine as a source. Keep up the good work.
Patrick Gallup University of Nebraska at Omaha, USAThanks Patrick, a great deal of work goes into putting the Zine together, and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
